Major milestone for Australian education web service

September 2007

Educators have weathered many changes in technology over the past decade and the edna (Education Network Australia) web service http://www.edna.edu.au has been there for them all. Launched in November 1997 by education.au Limited, today edna serves more than 30 thousand unique site visitors every month.

In addition to its core strength of a quality-assured search of thousands of free, online resources for Australian educators, edna also offers free online Groups and discussion lists for educators plus a range of custom syndicated content and services to a wide variety of other web sites.

To celebrate, the people managing edna are inviting anyone who has been involved with edna over the past ten years to create a digital story about their experiences with e-learning and how edna may have contributed.

“A digital story can be as simple as adding a photo to a photo sharing site or writing a blog post, then adding the tag edna10. For people who have the time and ability, digital stories might be a voiced slide show or video,” says Greg Black, CEO of education.au.

“What is important is to share the stories of the people who have shaped the service over the years – the numerous education and training contributors, advocates and end users of the edna network.”

If the terms “tag” and “digital story” are new to you, edna can help.  Visit the tenth birthday page – http://www.edna.edu.au/10birthday for more information.  While you’re there, you can leave your mark on the edna site right away by adding your name, location and photo to an interactive map.
