Australian educators will have their own specialised professional ‘Facebook’ site with the launch this Friday, May 30 of me.edu.au, a new site designed to get the country’s educators talking and sharing online.

An initiative of education.au, the national agency set up to support the integration of technology in teaching and learning in Australia, me.edu.au already has more than 6,000 users from its trial release.

“This is a very important initiative and another boost to the digital education revolution that holds so much promise for our classrooms and training centres,” education.au Chief Executive Greg Black said.

“Our team is made up of educators who recognised that other online networking sites did not fully support the demanding and specialised needs of their profession. me.edu.au has been designed by educators for educators to ensure that it meets their requirements, so they can collaborate and network with their colleagues across Australia,” he said.

They will be able to use me.edu.au to:

  • Create and edit an online professional profile
  • Connect with educators who have similar interests
  • Share links, news, photos, ideas, opinions and blogs
  • Join or create their own communities of interest to share ideas about education practice, research or issues.

me.edu.au is a service of edna.edu.au and is managed and maintained by education.au.

me.edu.au is sponsored by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations
